Katie McWeeney

Katie McWeeney is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, and gardener living in Old Fort, NC. She was born in Charleston, SC, and raised in Richmond, Virginia and Magnolia, Arkansas. She received her degrees from Louisiana Tech University (BFA) and Memphis College of Art (MFA), with concentrations in architecture, cultural studies, and mixed-media art practices.

Katie utilizes clay, paint, charcoal, and installation practices to share her contemplations and reflections as a woman, naturalist, adoptee, and citizen. When not creating artwork, you can find her tending a perennial garden and small flower farm on ancestral land or spending time with her significant other and pup exploring the mountains. Katie’s work is in private collections throughout the United States, and she has exhibited throughout the Southeastern US. She is a volunteer at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts community pottery studio and also serves on the Trails & Trains Festival and Old Fort Strong Fund committees. Katie founded NANU Gallery & Gardens in downtown Old Fort in August 2024.
